UN « TITANIC » FRANCAIS. 23 novembre, 2009

| Tout le monde connait l’histoire du Titanic, vaisseau qui sombra lors de son voyage inaugural, et beaucoup moins connaissent l’histoire très proche du Georges Philippar, paquebot des Messageries Maritimes, construit à Saint-Nazaire, et prévu pour faire la ligne d’Extrême Orient et assurer la liaison entre la Belle Colonnie (l’Indochine) et la Métropole. Comme le Titanic, le Georges Philippar a connu une carrière trés brève car il a coulé suite à un incendie dans la Mer Rouge en mai 1932 sur le retour de son voyage ignaugural. Parmi les disparus le célèbre journaliste Albert Londres qui revenait d’un reportage à Shanghaï (Chine) sur le traffic de l’opium et c’est pourquoi on a pensé à un acte criminel imputable à une Triade, mais hypothèse non vérifié. Parmi les rescapés recueillis par de nombreux navires sur zone dont l’André-Lebon, madame Françoise Mazet femme d’un français Jean Mazet ayant fait fortune à la colonie . Il faut dire que la Dame en question était ma tante Françoise, soeur de ma mère Paulette, et que toute mon enfance a baigné dans le récit de cette tragédie familiale. Un détail m’avait frappé : dans le naufrage ma tante avait certes gardé la vie mais perdu tous ses bijoux et sa garde-robe ce qui était somme toute un moindre mal. Son mari plus agé et très amoureux avait immédiatement commandé les mêmes modèles auprès de joaillers de la Place Vendôme et des grands couturiers . Et comme c’est la vie et qu’un bienfait est toujours sévèrement puni, quelques années plus tard ma tante quittait son mari pour partir avec son amant ; mais je ne suis pas Graham Greene ou Jean Hougron pour vous raconter la suite de ce roman vrai.Pour ceux intéressés par le naufrage du Georges Philippar voici les liens :
